According to its internationalization strategy, Tarsus University welcomes applications from qualified international applicants with a wide range of disciplinary knowledge and experience, and it highly values the way these applicants boost the university's academic competitiveness on a global scale.
International faculty and researchers are always welcome to teach or do research at Tarsus as they are the leaders of international consciousness at universities and provide diversity, new perspectives, and talents to the academic environment. Three main kinds of foreign academics and researchers are eligible to apply at Tarsus University:
-
Contract universities from abroad
-
Contract researchers from abroad
-
Visitors without contracts (not salaried)
International scholars and academics will be subject to various rules and processes that are handled by various departments at TU depending on their categorization.
Non-contracted visiting scholars frequently spend a few months or even up to a year at Tarsus University conducting their own research or taking part in beneficial institutional activities like giving a formal lecture or working on a team project with academics or employees.
Non-contracted visiting researchers are not provided with funding by Tarsus University; instead, they are expected to cover their own expenses using resources such sabbatical pay, personal finances, grants from their home governments, or money from other private organizations.
How to Apply
- Non-contracted visiting scholars may come to Turkey upon invitation from local researchers and/or departments at TU, or upon their own request.
- The host research center, laboratory or department informs the Dean and the Rectorate respectively. If approved, the host unit (research center, laboratory or department) prepares a formal Acceptance Letter indicating the length of the stay and stating where the research or study will be conducted and sends this letter to the applicant.
- The Acceptance Letter should be prepared both in English and in Turkish and printed on an ITU-letterheaded paper with the official signature and stamp of the host unit on it. The Turkish version will be requested if the non-contracted visiting scholar is required to apply for a Residence Permit.
